My computer can't find a java document?

-I create and use scripts often but i am still just a beginner when it comes to it and i am trying something new. When i save my script on note pad as a .text document its fine but when i try to change it to a .java it cannot find the file anymore, why is this? I have tried a million tricks to make the script work so i can compile it. unfortunately when i use the command prompt and try to compile a .text document it does not work of course lol and i know it useless when my documents acts like the saved file was never there and when i try to open it redirects me to the internet to a freaking non existing document...no **** you cant find it...freaking dumb comp. sorry for the language...and one of my friend recommended i do the *.java but yea it wont do anything. so why is it not finding my notepad document?When you are saving, save as .java and set the below bar to All Files instead of Text Document. Does that help?
