However, not everything that has the PDF extension is actually a true PDF file. There are many free programs that create a file with the PDF extension (and that can be viewed using Acrobat Reader) that is not more than a png format picture of the original document. Those can NOT be converted to word/text files by any software as they are just "pictures" and not program is able to read the words in a picture.
If it's a true PDF file then you can simply select all texts, copy and paste onto Word. However, if it's just a scanned image of a document and saved as PDF then your only choice is to use an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software. There are online sites that can do that too but most of the time the contents would still need a lot of proof-reading due to misspelled words. I have yet to see an OCR software that can process an image of text without errors.
